After 15 years of racing my mountain bike, I have never been more excited to start a summer Season of competition than this year. My enthusiasm for continuing to push the body to the limits had definitely dwindled toward the finish of last year’s domestic Season. Retirement from my own racing and perhaps solely concentrating on the coaching, was definitely in my thoughts. However, with a change in kit colors and some hugely supportive sponsors on-board I feel I have a new level of enthusiasm and am inspired to get out and race my bike over the coming Australian Summer. I am planning a jam-packed Season with a mixture of cross country, marathon, stage races and even some gravity enduro ahead.
CANYON are due to start bike sales in Australia and New Zealand December this year, with Darryl Moliere heading the operations. I am so grateful to have support from Darryl and Canyon and will have no problem in promoting such a quality bike brand! I will be riding both the Grand Canyon CF SLX and Lux CX RACE at different MTB events around Australia. I may even be spotted on the road now that I have an Ultimate CF SL to show off!
I am lucky enough to have the continued support from SRAM AUSTRALIA who have been so good to me over the years. Rob Eva and Dylan Coulson head a team of all-round nice guys and girls who you will no-doubt see as support crew at most of the big events. My Canyon Mtbikes will be fully equipped with Sram XX1, RockShox RS1 forks and Guide Brakes. I’ll have no excuses given the quality of equipment!
I am also lucky enough to have the following sponsors on-board. You can read more about their quality product and services on the ‘equipment’ page at PedalLab.com.
YAKIMA Bike racks will ensure my bikes get to the start line in one piece.
SEIGHT CUSTOM CYCLE WEAR have already ensured that my Team kit arrive in time for the start of the Season.
My eyes will be well protected with ADIDAS EYWEAR onboard.
TUNE wheels, bars, stem and seat-post will keep my bike weight down to a minimum.
I will look a whole lot “cooler” with 4SHAW socks, gloves and under-shirt.
Energy levels will remain high during races with SHOTZ NUTRITION keeping me fueled
Greg Jacobs at STABLE BASE studio has already helped with strength and conditioning in the Off-Season. He will likely continue to dish out some tough sessions ahead.
BUXTON BOOTCAMP
Racing the Buxton Bootcamp Enduro was a great way to kick off the Season. I paired up with fellow PedalLab athlete Karen Hill to take out the female pairs category. I will be heading off to Tasmania next week with Karen to race the Hellfire Cup. Looking forward to the great times ahead!
